The University at Buffalo will soon launch a pioneering Biofabrication and Imaging Research Center, powered by a major $50 million investment from New York State.

 

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the funding as part of the 2025-26 state budget, reinforcing the state’s vision for UB as a leader in biomedical innovation.

 

This interdisciplinary facility will unite experts in engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and life sciences, enhancing research in regenerative medicine, therapeutic development, and medical technology.

 

Advanced imaging tools will strengthen UB’s neurological research, focusing on conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, strokes, and Alzheimer’s.

 

Researchers aim to deepen understanding of complex diseases by examining living tissues, cells, and biomaterials.

 

UB is contributing an extra $16.7 million to boost faculty research, showcasing a strong commitment to advancing health outcomes and scientific discovery in Western New York.

Neighborhood Health Center of Western New York will soon open a new clinic in North Buffalo at 2497 Delaware Avenue, previously home to Focus Urgent Care.

 

This marks the organization’s seventh location, reflecting its commitment to expanding healthcare options for local families and individuals.

 

The center, scheduled for a spring launch, is designed to serve residents without primary care providers and to help ease the pressure on existing sites, which are already near capacity.

 

Joanne Haefner, President and CEO, underscored the importance of patient-centered primary care in reducing costly emergency visits and improving health outcomes.

 

Neighborhood Health Center continues to recruit staff for the new facility and welcomes applications through its website.

 

Founded in 1987, the nonprofit serves over 29,000 patients and remains dedicated to accessible, high-quality healthcare for all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay.
